9. Someone you wish you could meet

Dear SIWICM,

Frankly, my list of ‘Someone I wish I could meet’ is long. Yep, it’s really long that it could be evident from the fact that I’m inspired by many people in different fields. Call yourself lucky or even be proud to feature in my list, which of course, is the reason for this letter being addressed to you. However, I’d like to put up this point that you’re not on top of the list, certainly not. No offense. Credibly, this letter should have been addressed to the one(s) topping the list, but it was only you who struck my mind the moment I wanted to write this letter.

I haven’t seen or heard from you for ages. Well, apparently, it shouldn’t be the case for the people who were the-best-friends. Hmm, we were; guess you too remember that. You know what, I still cherish the days I spent with you, the inexplicable fun we had, the places we explored (do you remember our adventure ride to the forbidden palace next to the railway station? I still laugh at the fact how fearful you were that you made us run back like hell just as we were about to enter it).

Man, how good we were as the-best-friends! Ever wondered why do things go wrong when everything seem to be so perfect? We too were all but perfect for each other, giving the necessary support when the other was in need, sharing almost everything - the happiness and the sadness, sacrificing anything just for the sake of other’s wellbeing. But why did we end up like this? I know I was responsible for whatever we are now; I was the one who gave you the cold shoulder. I was lame then, you see.

I still miss those gifts that you gave me when we were together. I shouldn’t have returned those to you the other day – the day when I wanted to break up with you. I curse myself for that act of mine. I can feel now how bad you’d have felt at that moment. By all means, I should have at least listened to your words of having them with me even if I choose not to talk to you ever again. But if I were sane enough to listen to your words, I wouldn’t have broken up with you in the first place.

Whatsoever, nothing is going to change apart from the fact that we could patch up at least now. Better late than never, we’ve been taught in school, after all. J

Do reply or give me a call, if you’re interested. And, BTW, send me those gifts if you’ve those with you yet.

P.S: I’d definitely have posted this letter to you, if I had your address with me. Trust me.

Yours (wanna-be) friendly,
Suresh R

8. Your favorite internet friend

Hi,

Until now, this letter was meant to be written to a person who, in a large schema of things, was the only internet friend I had. The world is not the same, they say. That’s true. Things change, and drastically we, people, too change. Eventually, we (I and that friend) were also doomed to change and haven’t been in touch for almost 2 years now. This letter would've made us to catch up those missed times if I had stuck to my idea of writing to him. Frankly, when I took up this 30-letters tag challenge (Wondering what it is? Please check my blog. You should follow it, I say), I had no idea that I would I write to you.
Few minutes back I found that you had blocked me from following you in Twitter. Damn, I couldn’t believe it. Why the hell did you do that? Is it because of my reply to your tweet? Oh, come on! Don’t say that, that’s lame. I don’t see any harm in my reply. In fact, it was for fun.
It’s you who had asked for suggestions for the 100th post in your blog. Ah, the blog, I have to say about it. Looking back, it all started with your blog. It was the reason for this ramble-letter. The blog, it’s awesome, apart from the fact that it eats a bit (read: big) chunk of my time to load. Your writing, it’s inspiring. I mean it. In fact, it made me to follow you in Twitter. (I wouldn’t have, had I known I’d be blocked in few days’ time.)
Okay, let me ask, why did you approve my follow request in the first place? You weren’t aware of me by then. It was because of your approval, I was in your followers list and because of that, I got your tweet about your 100th post in my timeline, and because of that, I had to reply to it. Well, unarguably, I shouldn’t have replied to that given I wasn’t a friend of you yet. You know, we are not sane always. I wasn’t then.
Anyway, a suggestion is a suggestion, and you shouldn’t blame someone for it. The one who asked should be sane enough to ignore the suggestion, if found useless, and not to ignore the one who rambled it. Moreover, I just wonder if it was my actual suggestion or my reply to your response to my suggestion that made you to block me. Whatever, it seems a little funny, and more offensive and hostile.
Weird, as it may sound, I was wondering for the past couple of days about you not listed in my ‘Following’ list, and was thinking if it was my mistake to ‘Unfollow’ you inadvertently. Heck, today when I finally made up my mind and clicked on the ‘Follow’ button again, a message peeped to alert me that I was blocked. Damn frustrated, I was. And that’s the reason for this letter!

P.V. 1: I know this letter is meant for my favorite internet friend. For me, you’re an unknown friend, and because of you being the first to block me anywhere, you drastically became my favorite too. :)
P.V. 2: Though this letter is a work of frustration, I never meant to hurt you, but if I did, my sincere apologies.
P.V. 3: I wrote this letter a couple of days ago, but decided to post it only today.
P.V. 4: I post this letter with as much hesitation as I had when I replied to your tweet the other day.
P.V. 5: If this letter makes you to unblock me, don’t you dare to block me ever again. :)
P.V. 6: Oops, I have misspelled P.S. as P.V.

Yours friendly,
Suresh R

7. Your Ex-girlfriend

7

Hey,

How are you? I’m sure you aren’t fine, because I’m not with you. Even if you try to cheat me with your pretention of being fine, then that’s fine; my prayers are always with you, after all. Nah, that’s a lie. My prayers aren’t with you, will never be. And “you’re being fine” is not at all okay for me. How can you be fine after doing the ‘break up’ with me? By fair means, it’s not possible.

The day you dumped me, I decided not to give a damn about you, not to take you seriously anymore, and not to worry every-damn-thing about you. But I failed for you never got out of my mind. No matter how hard I tried, the traces of you always remained, in bits and pieces, in me. Though I haven’t heard from you (or from others) about you and your whereabouts in over 3 years, today, I dreamt of you doing extremely well with your life. And at that instant, I had this urge to let you know that I’m doing well too, in fact, a lot better than ‘doing well’. And well, that’s the reason for writing you this letter.

You know what; I should thank you for breaking up with me. It proved me that I deserve someone better, better than an insensitive person like you. If it wasn’t for you and your decision, I couldn’t have got the chance to live with the loveliest girl I ever met in my life. Yeah, I’m into a relationship now, only this time it’s with a sane and trustworthy person.

At all the times you were with me, I didn’t know you’re a fool, and you’re a loser, not even when you left me weeping. But my girl, the loveliest, often mentions that you’re a fool to leave me, and that you’re a loser. Now I get that, you loser. Go to HELL.

P.S.: The only thing I can’t digest is you dumped me when you fell in love with a rich man. Never mind, my prayers are with you, always. Yeah, trust me, that’s not a lie. You have given me some of the best memories of my life (that happened when you were SANE). Hence, with my prayers, you’ll always do well, of course, with your rich boyfriend (I say that because I do hope that you’re still with him). And don’t worry; you won’t go to hell and all. I’ll meet you in heaven.

Take care.

- Suresh

6. A stranger

6

Oye straaaaangerrr,

How…… Hey, hold on, let me first check if my parents are nearby. Good, they are not anywhere near me. Sorry for that. It’s just that I have been told right from my younger days that I shouldn’t talk to any strangers, let alone write to them. They are bad, it seems. THAT’S A GENERALIZATION, and not pointed at you, I swear. So, you don’t have to feel bad or be mad at me or, for the matter of fact, at my parents. It’s not only them, but all parents do. You better ask yours’ too.

By the way, why do people say that? Isn’t that gross? It’s a pity you’re blamed. Not all strangers are bad, I know. Poor parents, they don’t. Or they do, yet they want to be careful of those bad versions (persons) of you people. I hope that might well have explained my stand.

So, how do you do? You’re doing well, I assume. With that, I want to ask you one thing – What will you do when people, in the sense the parents, act bad to you at your face? I know it hurts. So, how do you soothe yourself? Is there a way that the parents could play it safe? Because, you know, I too will, when I become a dad, put the tag ‘Beware of Strangers’ before my children’s eyes. But I don’t want it to hurt you in any way. So try to answer me.

Since you’re a stranger, I’m not going to share my identity with you. I can imagine your laugh. It’s my age, right? Okay, listen, I know I’m at a stage in life where I shouldn’t be afraid of a stranger. But I’m a kid by heart, and hence, safety first, your hurt next. If you feel you have to answer my question, you yourself find a way, and try to reach me.

Bye.

- a stranger.

5. Your dreams

5

Hello my dreams,

Are you aware of Aldous Huxley, and his saying about you (not ‘my’ you, but ‘a general’ you)? Even if you don’t, that’s not a big deal. I, myself, neither know who he is nor care to Google him. It’s just his words that I know – “Dream is a pragmatic way.” Pragmatic, so true.

I, first of all, want to thank you for being in me, for being the best in me, and for giving me the chance to visualize the impossible-yet-so-possible things of my life – the past, the present, and the future included. You come when I fall asleep (or when I‘m about to), and that’s fine, even if you had to disturb my sleep at times, or well, most of the times. But I just wonder why you had to come when I was in my class in my school and college, because I was sleeping then? Maybe yes. Those were boring lectures, you know.

Never mind, you are always like my special, what, a friend. You help me with the images that I couldn’t see for real. You show me how I and my life will be in future. You show me the effect of what I will have to do in future (and sadly, that doesn’t happen in most cases though). You give the immense happiness of achieving something that I actually can’t in reality. Thank you for all these, and others unspecified.

Back to being pragmatic, how pragmatic are you? I don’t think so you are, in the first place. Anyway, I don’t worry about it, but still I wish you are. Hence, going forward, irrespective of the time you come, just be as much pragmatic as possible. It will soothe me. And don’t expect me to remind you the same ever again as I’m not sure I would write to you again.

Now given the fact that you aren’t real, and by any means, have no chance of reading this letter, I stop here.

Take care, and be healthy. And, ah, be pragmatic!

- Suresh R, the copyrights owner of you.

4. Your sibling

4

Dear Sisters,

This letter was supposed to be for my sibling (Do you guys read that? It’s singular!) Damn, how could I ignore one and write to the other? No way, I can’t. You might even think I should have written to you both separately (You bet, I know you guys!). But for your perusal, your bro is super busy that he hardly finds time to write two different letters for the very same reason. Okay, that was my way of being funny;  I’m not that busy, but still I just don’t want to separate you both, at least in that regard.

So I decided to address you both in this letter. Nah, don’t get too excited, and rip this letter apart with all your stupid fights like who is going to read it. No accusation, no praise, and more importantly, no confession. This is just a plain letter. So be cool, and one of you read and the other, just listen to it.

It’s been almost 11 or so years since we drifted away from home over our college studies, and all those years, unlike our previous bygone years, we were all but peaceful (forget about our times together at home during some festival/semester holidays). Peaceful, it really was. Our parents might have been happy, but I, certainly was not.

Apparently, I missed those fights and quarrels we had over a packet of biscuit, over the channels we had to watch in T.V., over the preparation for the exams (and, not to mention, the results), and whatnot. I missed the fun of beating you both, and the fun of getting beaten up sometimes. Hmm, well, Mom would have had some tough times then, but seriously, it was fun for me. Every time I beat you guys up, and then when you cry, she had to rush all her way from the kitchen, with whatever she had to get in her hand, to chase me down.

Ah, thinking of it, it was hilarious, wasn’t it? Or maybe not for you guys for you were in the suffering side – the weeping side. Uh-huh, my bad. I’m sorry if that had hurt you. But that was fun for me, after all. Now that we are a grownup, and in a while, we all will be drifting apart in our own ways into our own families (I guess you understand what I mean, don’t you?), I will miss that fun forever. So, if you ever feel that you shouldn’t disappoint your lovely bro, you’re most welcome to my place, anytime, to get some from me! And that’s the whole point of this letter.

Bye for now.

- Yours lovely bro.

3. Your parents

Dear Mom and Dad,

I’m fine. How‘re you? Hope you’re doing well, as always. Now don’t get into any awestruck wonder on seeing this letter. This is just a challenge your son had put himself in for next ten or fifteen days. Ah, nope, not a challenge that would strain my body, I swear. So don’t get tensed. It’s just about my mind – to write a letter to thirty people, and of course, you [together] are one among them.

As I started this letter, I wondered what I should write about, either some usual ‘thanks for everything’ or some ‘unconfessed confession’ rambles. Then I contemplated for few seconds only to end up winnowing out both. As a son, I am nothing short of obvious to thank you both for everything. So why bother to mention it here. And confessions, it’s too early to talk about it, I think. (Secrets have to be secrets, at least for a long while, right?)

What else? Okay, Dad, I have to say you something that I can’t do in person. I, for the better, will use this letter. Comparatively, it’s Mom who had spent most of the time with me, and frankly, sometimes I yearned for you to be with me when you weren’t anywhere near me actually. But now that your son has grown up, and understood the conception of being a father, I can understand your stand then. If it hasn’t been for you, we, our family, wouldn’t have been what we’re now. I won’t thank you for that; I’ll just take it as a lesson for my future.

Mom, you’re the best. I know how much you’ve given to your kids. And having known you for all these years, I know there was nothing left for you to have given us more.

You both were born poor, grown poor, but you‘ve never let your kids experience it. As a kid, I remember being upset sometimes for not getting what I wanted then. I might have shown it to your face. I was a kid, after all. Anyway, my sincere apologies to you guys.

You both have shown me what’s good and what’s bad, and the importance of being good. I always try to be good, but still if you ever hear something bad about me, never blame yourselves for that. I can’t take that, seriously. It’s me who should be ashamed and blamed, no matter what.

I wish I teach you the N, E, and T of the net, and make you read this letter [and my blog, of course]!

-       Yours loving son.

2. Your crush

Dear Crushmi,

‘Sweet-heart’, ‘Darling’, and all that I wanted to call you then. Unfortunately, you never gave me a chance, and maybe so, neither did I. It’s been like forever since I saw you, but you are the same to me yet. First, always, is special; be it a thing or a person. With the fact that you’re my first (and the only) crush, you will remain SPECIAL to me forever. I mean… forever. Though I haven’t seen you in long, I never had failed to track you.

With all those tracking, I know you’re single still, just like me. I’m happy, you know. And lucky that I’m single now, I feel there is a possibility for me to take this crush to the next level. Geez, I could imagine your ‘geez’ out there. I said that because you (or I) shouldn’t blame me in future for not taking any step for I know, people will easily blame a guy in this regard. You might wonder what’s with this guy who never even revealed his crush, and all of a sudden, is talking about the next level. I completely understand. So treat this letter as ‘my crush, revealed’ kind.

I know, just like my previous gifts and other letters for you, this one also will end up unsent. But, if you ever happen to see this letter, by the not-so-possible chance, simply give me a chance to call you as my darling, just once, at least.

P.S.: Don’t misinterpret ‘Crushmi’ as ‘CRUSH-ME’. It’s just the way I like to call you. Crushmi, sounds better than your name, doesn’t it?

Take care.

Yours Crushingly,
Suresh R

1. Your Best Friend

Hey buddy,

I'm all but sure you would have wondered on seeing this letter. Okay, before you get into any idea, listen, I'm not an idiot or something (that you might already be aware of; you are my best friend, after all) to write a letter to a guy with whom I spend several hours chatting over mobile every day. Blame it on this challenge of 30 letters. Still wondering what it is? You better check my blog!

I don’t want to say anything good about you here, like how supportive you were to me in my tough times, for everything you did to me, and blah-blah-blah, because I’m going to use this space to curse you for all the bad I did because of you. Idiot, you were the one responsible for making people call me a drunkard. Idiot, you were responsible for making me stand in those queues, with those lunatic old-heads, for hours to watch some crap films that ran for hours less than our waiting time.

I still wonder why you chased me down, on our first semester, like hell to get that book from me. I have never ran like that before – or nor have I ran it since. Thinking of that, my legs ache still. We should have used this as a trick, and ran in some athletics meet, dude. We, for sure, would have stood in podiums. And we, well, in that regard, might have done some good to our college. What say?

I’m tired, so I’ll end here. Now you don’t have to dignify my ramblings with a response, because it’s not worth it, you see.

A reminder note: As promised, call me tonight at 11:55 P.M. else, you might not get my call at midnight to wish you for your birthday!

Yours best-friendly,
         Suresh R
